I’ve discovered the power of vulnerability. I have struggled with self-esteem issues since I was a small girl. The first time I sold a painting, the experience was so frightening, I shut down and went into hiding with my artwork for almost six years. But eventually I grew tired—tired of being silent, of feeling that I wasn’t good enough and that I didn’t fit in. I grew tired of being afraid. And so I kept painting, and over time I came to realize the true power of the creative process. Painting pushes me to take risks, explore, and face my fears. It has shown me the power of vulnerability. I fail repeatedly—but I get up and keep painting until I know in my heart that a work is complete. I’ve learned to create without fear of the outcome. That kind of freedom is indescribable. I’ve made it my mission to be as expressive as I can muster the courage to be—and to inspire others to embrace their vulnerability as well. I believe that the creative process—in whatever medium you choose—is the pathway to growth. So as you create the masterpiece that is your life, don’t be afraid to let your journey create the meaning.
