Bluff How Cementworks has created a line of pots created especially for succulents. With simple, clean shapes and easy-care groupings of plants, these vessels will add style to patio, table, or desktop.

Rick Harmer has been working in concrete for more than fifteen years. His earlier pieces—whimsical or serene, sometimes haunting—grace many walls and fences on the Coast, and now his work has taken a different direction. “I decided to transition from wall art to pots,” says Harmer. “From there it only seemed natural to go with succulents; they are easy to care for, they come in a fascinating variety of shapes and sizes, and they’re attractive.”

Each succulent pot is a miniature landscape, and Harmer enjoys selecting for height, shape, and colour. He likes to keep his eyes open for the “weird” plants too, to add some eye-catching appeal.

With many pots to fill, Harmer has started propagating succulents too. He finds it satisfying to watch a new plant take root and grow, getting ready to become part of the next planting group.
