“Children’s creative slates are clean. Nothing is impossible, there are no rules to follow, no right or wrong,” says Sunshine Coast artist Morley Baker. “I try to imagine that freedom in my work, but I’m an adult with all the loss of innocence that entails. I struggle in my work to find a balance between the inner child and the adult I’ve become and hope that at the end of the day the child and I have become one.”
Morley Baker was born in North Vancouver and studied Fine Art at UBC in the early 70s. He moved to the Coast in 1997 and opened Westwind Gallery. Currently he is painting in his studio in Lower Gibsons and is part of the Power of Paint, Eleven Equal Artists show each year in Sechelt.
